Chrysalis Shirts.
This series of shirts was made using hand stitch as an alternative to pattern cutting. I had visited Rajasthan and spent time with The Stitching Project, watching how hand stitch was applied as a running stitch. A while later, I found myself revisiting this technique as a way to slow down and reflect about my pattern cutting practice, through this alternative activity of mark-making using thread. Hand stitch has since become an invaluable method I incorporate into my practice. I use it to enable reflection on my process of design, as it is unfolding over time.
